(Polytetrafluoroethylene) PTFE is now a very common material used in gasketing applications for arduous chemical service.

Commonly referred to as Teflon®, materials offered by us include virgin grades but more commonly biaxially structured with various fillers to comply with the required chemical and creep resistance. The unique structure of filled PTFE ensures high levels of seal integrity

PTFE can be supplied in both soft cut and machined pieces.

We also manufacture PTFE Envelope Gaskets in-house. These are used particularly where PTFE gaskets are coming into contact with very aggressive fluid media or where cleanliness and hygiene are essential.

A PTFE Insert is added to a compressible outer gasket usually made from non asbestos fibre or rubber. This combines virgin PTFE’s inertness with the compressibility of the rubber or fibre material.

We also stock expanded and Filled PTFE in both sheet and roll form including, Gylon®, Sigma®, Top-Chem and Gore™ materials together with PTFE coated fabric.

Munsch/PTM additionally supply PTFE Based Abrasion Resistant Coatings. An abrasion and wear resistant coating functions by reducing the friction caused by one component rubbing against another.

PTFE (or Polytetrafluoroethylene) provides a low coefficient of friction that prevents the scoring, galling, or sticking of mating components.

Own Brand and Gore PTFE

The compressive strength at a certain predetermined compression value is one of the most significant mechanical characteristics of PTFE, in a wide range of service temperatures.

Expanded PTFE is the material of choice for a number of industries and media including oils, petrol, chemical, gas, food and pharmaceutical where a low pressure seal is requied.

Flexibility strength, plastic memory and hardness, are additional characteristics of PTFE products and with this grade being etched on one side, means it can be bonded.

Our range is made from 100% pure PTFE expanded using a unique process into a febrile structure which forms a strong, consistent material which is impervious to liquids and gasses.

With this grade being 25% Glass Fibre filled it exhibits enhanced wear resistance and enhanced chemical resistance (except for alkali and hydrofluoric acid) over other PTFE grades.

Exceptionally resistant to creep, cold flow and aggressive media, this 100 % ePTFE gasket sheet reliably seals steel piping and equipment.

The surface coating leads to outstanding resistance to inadvertent chemical splashes and resists contamination by aqueous and oily fluids.

We are able to manufacture customised products to the exact specifications you have requested in accordance with your drawings. Adhering to any additional requirements, such as, material, dimensions and tolerances.

Gylon® Range

The GYLON® Style 3500 is a high performance, silica filled PTFE sheet material designed for use with strong acids, solvents, hydrocarbons, and other aggressive media.

The first choice for universal applications in the chemical and petrochemical industries. The combination of high pressure/temperature (P x T) and minimal cold flow far exceeds the performance of conventional PTFE.

The GYLON® Style 3504 gasket is made of PTFE with aluminosilicate microspheres. It is designed for use in moderate concentrations of acids, caustics, hydrocarbons, refrigerants, and more.

The GYLON® Style 3510 is a high performance, barium sulfate filled PTFE gasketing material designed for use in strong caustics and toxic chemicals, such as chlorine, ammonia, and phosgene.

This highly compressible, microcellular PTFE gasketing material is designed to compress and conform to irregular or damaged surfaces, making it suitable for flanges that generate lower compressive stresses, such as lined flanges and equipment.

ENVELON™ is a high performance, aluminosilicate microsphere filled PTFE gasketing material which is designed to compress and conform to irregular surfaces, giving it a tight seal on glass-lined and wavy flanges. It is available in either sheet or cut gaskets.

GYLON BIO-PRO® gaskets provide a durable and safe solution for protecting the integrity of food and pharmaceutical processing media. Their modified and restructured PTFE material is pre-formed and stress controlled for all standard TRI-CLAMP connections. It is dimensionally stable and resists intrusion.

Another highly compressible microcellular PTFE but with a rigid PTFE core for improved handleability. It is designed to compress and conform to irregular or damaged surfaces, making it suitable for flanges that generate lower compressive stresses, like glass-lined flanges.

Flexitallic Styles

SIGMA® 500 is a high performance biaxially orientated sheet sealing material containing PTFE and hollow glass microspheres.

SIGMA® 511 is a high performance biaxially orientated sheet sealing material containing PTFE with silica filler.

SIGMA® 533 is a high performance biaxially orientated sheet sealing material containing PTFE with barium sulphate (barytes) filler.

SIGMA® 588 is a high performance biaxially oriented PTFE sheet sealing material with enhanced handling & low stress sealing characteristics

Klinger Materials

Premium grade, heavy-duty PTFE gasket suitable for a wide range of applications within the chemical and petrochemical industries. The only PTFE based gasket material on the market to hold fire safe approval.

Highly compressible, modified PTFE material with outstanding chemical resistance. Ideal for applications where bolt load is limited or where flanges are delicate e.g. glass-lined equipment.

Modified PTFE material with excellent chemical resistance and good mechanical properties. Suitable for a wide range of applications with the exception of strong alkaline conditions.

Modified PTFE material with excellent chemical resistance and good mechanical properties. Suitable for a wide range of applications in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industries including strong alkaline conditions.

As with all materials it is recommended that the type is tested for suitability as grades do vary.

We are happy to advise on any application, but final responsibility lies with the customer.
